Check out the awesome music videos for "Stop, Drop and Roll!" and "Mother Mary" on YouTube. Hurry before Warner decides to take them down again! They should've been released, in my opinion. Enjoy!

Last night Billie Joe and Jason White hooked up with their sideband Pinhead Gunpoweder to play some gigs at 924 Gilman Street, Green Day's old stomping ground. It was a benefit concert for a friend of thiers who has breast cancer. You can check out Pictures and Video here on the Green Day Authority. Personally, I think Billie wears a dress pretty well. :D Great to see them out again!

New Touring Guitarist for Green Day
Posted by Delfina

The Arkansas Times reports that another Little Rock musician (as you know, Jason White is from Little Rock too) will join Green Day on tour as an additional guitarist: Jeff Matika, guitarist for the Magic Cropdusters and Ashtray Babyhead, will be Green Day’s third guitarist on their upcoming tour, after the May release of the new album, 21st Century Breakdown.

The article also says that the tour will be 19 months long, and that it will open on Later With Jools Holland in London “followed by a few weeks of press touring surrounding the release of “21st Century Breakdown” and SNL in May.”

They also write:

“The addition seems geared to further pushing Green Day into U2 territory. Billie Joe’s apparently going to do less guitar playing and more frontman-ing on this tour. White will play first guitar and Matika will play second and sing high harmonies.”

I think this is some pretty cool news, because it gives an idea of the direction Green Day will be taking with the tour, with Billie Joe being more and more of the showman. That was already the trend with American Idiot, and even more so with the Foxboro Hot Tubs.

I’m a bit disappointed…one of the things I always liked about Green Day was that they could do everything with only three guys. I’d rather they stayed out of “U2 territory”. Oh well.

I know I sound like a nit picker, whining about them being all like U2…but I’m kind of on the fence about that… I really like when it’s just the three of them. Jason is alright, too. :) I think it’s more personal somehow with the less people you have. Billie’s a great front man, but…I think a guitar belongs in his hands. Not to say I’m not excited! REALLY can’t wait! ;)

Yeah, I think I feel the same way as the rest of you. I would love to see Billie Joe on guitar, and I loved that they were a band that could do everything with just three guys. Even on AI I was looking forward to seeing Billie Joe play the guitar solos, but Jason played them.

On the other hand, even though I’m a nitpicker myself, I’m just going to take everything as it comes with the new album and tour, and let the band amaze me. :)

That’s a surprise, I suppose it makes sense though since he didn’t play guitar for the Tubbies. Interesting, I’m sure we’ll get to know this new guy soon enough.

any more than 3 guys in this band is too many - it will be like when the Doobies added Michael McDonald…nuff said
