Geekstinkbreath posted a set of pics of Green Day playing at “Take Back San Francisco,” an anti-gentrification rally and free show held in 2000. The photos are kind of blurry, but they have a nice, casual feels-like-you-were-there look to them, and the lighting at dusk is a cool combination of electric lights and natural light. I kind of like them. It’s also nice to be reminded of yet another good cause the guys of Green Day lent their support to. See all the photos, and descriptions of the event, here.

~Converse released the Billie Joe Armstrong shoe in its line of 1HUND(RED) shoes for the (PRODUCT) RED campaign. They feature a “hemp and leather upper in Billie’s favorite color.”10% of the net wholesale price will be paid to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS and other diseases.

Hollywood for Habitat For Humanity is holding an auction of celebrity items to benefit their work building homes for families in need. Among the items up for auction is a Gibson Epiphone guitar autographed by Green Day.

~Billie Joe was in attendance on Saturday, July 19, at the PacSun Pipeline to a Cure, a fundraiser gala in Huntington Beach, CA, for cystic fibrosis.

~Music Rising is having a benefit, selling items belonging to “Icons of Music,” including a Gibson prototype guitar played by Billie Joe. The event is May 31 at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City.

~The charity golf tournament for Music In Schools that Tre will be hosting on April 21 now also includes Mike Dirnt as a participant and sponsor. A Mike Dirnt autographed bass will be auctioned off as well. [Via loves2bang]

The item raised the highest bid in last year’s auction — a cool $2,000.”
